You get XLSX output holding the tables that were in your DOC, and nothing else. The tool extracts tabular data; it does not reproduce the document. Paragraphs, headings and pictures are not part of the output by design.

No, and that is deliberate. Converting a document to a spreadsheet extracts its tables, so DOC files without a single table have nothing to extract. The conversion stops with an explicit message rather than handing you an empty XLSX and reporting success.
Several files in one job need a paid plan. Free use is one file per conversion, one conversion an hour. On a paid plan you can add several files to one job, then download each result on its own or all of them in one ZIP.
